Dr. Michael A. Cruz
My love for animals started as a very young child. I fondly remember many trips to the NC Zoo, the Science Center, and the woods behind my home during those formative years. My fascination with the natural world led me to many avenues of science dealing with animals: Ecology, Zoology, Paleontology and of course, Veterinary Medicine. It was not until high school, when I was able to assist a local veterinarian patch up an injured horse, that I finally decided upon a path.
This decision led me to complete my bachelors degree in Zoology at NC State University, after which I stayed to pursue my Veterinary degree.
As a Greensboro native, I knew I wanted to return once I graduated and assist my local community. It just so happened that as a student, I had the great fortune of working here at Southwoods Animal Hospital during my summers. Now, I am delighted to be coming back home and rejoining the team!
In my free time I enjoy the outdoors, reading, nature illustration, and spending time with my family (both human and animal)!
